Ugo Ugochukwu, the 2007-born American of Italian heritage, born and raised in New York City, was crowned FIA Formula 3 champion today. At the Madring circuit, he secured second place in the Feature Race, a result that earned him the title. In 2023, Ugochukwu had claimed the inaugural Euro4 Championship title (now E4 Championship), the three-round series running alongside the Italian championship, in which he also competed that year. He won the title after an exciting season, securing the championship in Barcelona following thrilling battles against many of the drivers who have since been fighting for the top honours in Formula 3.
In 2024, he moved up to Formula Regional, while also winning the Macau Grand Prix, where an American driver had not won for over 40 years. He has been competing in FIA Formula 3 since 2025.
In his second year in the category, he was therefore crowned champion with Campos Racing, emerging victorious from a fiercely contested title battle with British driver Freddie Slater of Trident. It was only in the final round that the outcome of a season could be decided, after Ugochukwu had been competitive from the very beginning, securing his first Feature Race victory in the opening round in Australia. He went on to shine again at Silverstone, winning the Sprint Race and claiming a third-place Feature Race podium finish midway through the season. He also celebrated on the podium in Catalonia, at the Red Bull Ring and in Hungary, as well as in Madrid, where he was able to celebrate the title with champagne from the second step of the podium.
